You are not alone

"You are not alone on this journey. Your Heavenly Father knows you. Even when no one else hears you, He hears you. When you rejoice in righteousness, He rejoices with you. When you are beset with trial, He grieves with you...He sees you not as the world sees you; He sees who you really are. He looks on your heart. And He loves you, because you are His child...seek Him earnestly, and you will find Him" -Pres Uchtdorf

Tracting in a Winter Wonderland

Well this week has been pretty different. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays we do splits with the members. So, I got to take my first lead in a lesson on Tuesday. We taught an investigator named Jason. He’s really cool and loves basketball and football and he’s from Sikh background. He’s really smart so he always asks a lot of very deep thought provoking questions. But we taught him about fasting and tithing. He really understood fasting and thought it was really cool and thought it was cool how fast offerings go back to help people in the community. He seems to be really progressing but very slowly though. On Wednesday we carved pumpkins with the other missionaries and we carved mormon.org on to them and gave them to the members for Halloween and then we mostly went finding and knocking on D's, which I will admit is not very fun especially in the cold, but its what you got to do sometimes. It is what it is. Then we went and visited a less active lady, with a member named Bro. Mathieson, and it was very cool she talked about how she wants to come back to church and she wants to stop smoking. She is big into family history work so we talked to Bro Mathieson and they are gonna get visiting teachers for her to try to get her reactivated. She was very nice and we taught her how important reading the scriptures are and how they can help her overcome her challenges. Then on Thursday, like every Thursday, we weekly planned for 3 1/2 hours which is very important but is also very boring and takes forever but finally when we got done we went and met with Clayton. I don’t know if I already told you about Clayton but he is a Seventh Day Adventist. When we went over there we started talking about the restoration and he went on about how the seventh day is the day that God hollowed and how that is the day that we should worship and he told us that he does believe in prophets and they believe in a prophet and I can’t remember her name but he told us that she only had a third grade education, coincidence? Then he told us that she had 2,000 visions and that one of the visions she had was that alcohol and smoking were bad and something we should not do but coincidentally she had this vision in 1844 which just so happens to be 11 years after Joseph Smith received the Word of Wisdom. So what you can gather from this story is....... The Church IS TRUE!!!!! Then after that we went and had correlation and met with a few members and also met with Mark Cordonier, whose wife is a member, but he’s not and he has been an investigator for 2 years and honestly knows the lessons better than I do and he has a testimony but he doesn't know it yet, which I know doesn't make sense but how he talked with us, he pretty much knows more than I do and it’s really just getting him to commit to being baptized but he is a really cool guy. Friday we pretty much did nothing because we had to travel to Kelowna and be there by 4:30 and its a two and half hour drive so at 10 we went and contacted a few less actives and then ate lunch and packed and drove all the way to Kelowna for Zone Conference where we watched Meet the Mormons. It was so Awesome and I loved it but sadly it’s not showing in Canada so no one has seen it or knows what it is so we can’t really use it yet but hopefully it’ll come out for free on lds.org. Then we stayed with the Kelowna 2nd elders, one of which is Elder Aua; which is really awesome and he’s a very cool guy that came out with me, and Elder Driscoll, who is also very cool and is from Florida so he’s got a southern accent and he came out with Elder Kelly. Then on Saturday we had studies and then drove back to Kamloops but when we were going to the car Elder Kelly went over and started talking to this guy that looked like he just came straight out of the 70's, but he told us that we were in a cult and that we needed to get out before Christ comes again and then he told us we where two devils in suits and he told us he was a follower of Christ which doesn't make any sense because he did not seem very Christ like, but I guess that’s how it goes. When we got back we went and knocked on some D's and it was not fun because is was freezing cold but we knocked on one old mans door and he told us he wasn’t interested so we asked if there was anyone he knew who needed a good message and he said no but then he told is not to go to his neighbors house so naturally we went to his neighbors house J and the guy was really cool and he invited us in so we talked with him. His name is Colton. We taught him the restoration, which was really awesome. We gave him a Book of Mormon and Elder Kelly asked him if he wanted to be baptized and he said YES!!!! Which is really sweet because he is the first new investigator that we've gotten since I have been here. He is a really cool guy and he is a heavy duty mechanic and he works on mining equipment but he is only 20, which is really crazy. I forgot to tell you that on Wednesday after carving pumpkins we had lunch with the first elders and we took a bunch of pictures with light sabers and riding invisible bikes so you should check it out (see below). Well I have to go because I'm out of time. See (what??) ya next week.
